Too Faced's Romantic Eye Palette - Review & Swatches
Thursday, November 27, 2014
Today's post is a review of the Romantic Eye Palette by Too Faced Cosmetics. I lusted after this little beauty for an age before finally caving and picking it up on sale at beautybay.com :) - keep reading for more photos and swatches!
As with all of Too Faced's products, the packaging is adorable with just a pinch of delightful smuttiness. While the palette is of cardboard construction, the overall feel and finish or the palette is of a high quality. On the Too Faced site the RRP is $36USD - I got mine on sale from beautybay.com for $35AUD.

The palette comes inside a box with the same print on the front as the palette itself
Here you can see the back of the palette has different information/layout to the box in the above photo - the adorable rose motif is carried onto the back as well.
Housed inside are 3 x 2g highlighter shadows and 6 x 0.9g eyeshadows, a mirror and 3 mini tutorial cards to help you create different looks using the palette; these are stored in a slip pocket behind the mirror.
The size is great too; it feels good in the hand and is compact enough to travel well and live in your handbag. The magnetic closure is nice and sturdy with an over lip that sits flush to the edge with a green pull tab ribbon to open it up.
This palette features a good balance of textures/finishes - there's five matte shades (I Do, Un-Veil, Kiss the Bride, First Dance and Bouquet Toss) and the others are a mix of pearl (Soulmates and Cut the Cake) and metallic shimmers (Honeymoon and Ever After).
Performance wise I found these lasted a full 8hrs over a primer (Too Faced Shadow Insurance is my fave) and the mattes blended nicely with the shimmers. Are the mattes the best formula out there? No, but I still rate them as decent. For me the metallic shades are the stand outs for formula, application and colour payoff.
One surprise I found was Soulmates being a gorgeous duchrome - it didn't show up as well in the photos but it has this lovely pink pearlised shift to it in the right light. I also found that mixing I do and Un-Veil made a great brow colour and lasted all day.

Overall for the $35AUD price tag I paid, I'm really happy with this palette. I love the combination of colours, I feel they're versatile enough that I could easily travel with this palette alone.
